Newcastle are still in the market for reinforcements this month and according to Sky Sports News’ Pete Graves, they are now leading the race to sign Tottenham’s Danny Rose, information that was then furthered by the fact the two clubs agreed a deal on Wednesday evening.
What’s the latest?
The left back’s future at Spurs is growing increasingly more doubtful, with a reported confrontation with his manager Jose Mourinho recently likely adding to Rose’s desire to move away from North London.
Bournemouth and Watford are also said to be interested in a move for the 29-year-old, though Graves claimed Newcastle were the frontrunners.
The fact that the Magpies are positioned higher in the league table may well have been a helping hand for the defender who now looks set to join the Magpies after Sky Sports reported that a deal has been agreed for Rose to move north.

Urgent move
Steve Bruce is in urgent need of a left-back due to injuries to Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett leaving Matt Ritchie as the only senior player who can cover in that position.
Rose would be a perfect short-term solution given his experience in the game, and he should be eager to impress in order to gain a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020.
Most pivotally, the defender should be very suitable for the left wing-back role, too, as he provides a good balance between defence and attack.
This is evidenced by a return of 0.9 key passes per league game but also 1.5 tackles, and that could prove very beneficial to the north-east outfit given they lack substantial cover and depth.
