The Red Dragons are blessed with an abundance of attacking riches, with former Scotland international striker Steven Fletcher also on their books – along with National League title-winning hero Ollie Palmer. Dalby often has to make do with an impact role, due to the fierce competition for places, but has registered four goals himself this season as he continues to learn from the proven performers around him.

Dalby, who is just 24 years of age, has told of taking important lessons from seasoned goalscorers: “Playing with the likes of Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher, they are always trying to help you as well. It is important to link with the strikers, especially the way that we play, and make sure you have that relationship with your strike partner.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Alongside his goals, Dalby has also contributed five assists in the 2023-24 campaign – with the latest of those helping to earn an FA Cup third-round win over local rivals Shrewsbury. He added on delivering end product: “Any way that you can help the team is important, whether that be goals or assists. Whether it is in possession or out of possession, it is always important to help the team and help my team-mates score. It is always nice to score goals but assists are just as important. I was just happy to help the team again at Shrewsbury with an assist and we got the win.”
