Herschelle Gibbs has signed a three-month contract to play for the Englishclub Lashings this season. Gibbs, who had represented Durham for the 2004season, will start his stint in June, and joins a Lashings squad whichalso includes Chris Cairns, VVS Laxman and Phil Tufnell.Andrew Fitch-Holland, the chief executive of Lashings, told South AfricanPress Association that the club intended to rope in more big names for the season, making it “the most astonishing Lashings line-up ever”. The club playsmainly 40-over games and a handful of Twenty20 fixtures, and lost only acouple of matches last season.Lashings has a history of attracting plenty of stars to play for them – VivRichards, Richie Richardson, Alvin Kallicharran and Brian Lara have allturned up for them in the past. Kallicharran is the current manager of theteam.
